Hello There!
Are you a parent out there with a young child who's wondering if they need to talk to a professional about their child's speech development? Are you wondering “is my child developing speech appropriately?” Have you ever compared your child to a friend’s child and thought “my child isn’t doing that yet, is that a problem?” This blog is for you. You're not alone and I’m here to help.
My name is Kaitlyn Crawford and I am a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and founder/owner of Crawford Speech and Feeding Inc., a pediatric speech therapy private practice based in Los Angeles, CA serving children ages 0-18 and their families.
After years in the field, working directly with parents and kids, this blog will focus on information and ideas that I feel every parent should know about and consider. My mission is to empower parents and caregivers to learn more, so they can do more, and advocate for the needs of their family.
Parenting is hard, parenting in the 21st century is even harder. With the endless amount of information available at your fingertips, how do you decide what to believe, how to parent, or how to teach your child?
I started this blog to share ideas, activities, and strategies that speak to the core beliefs of my practice:
Every child has something to say.
Parents are their child’s first and best teachers.
Speech therapy should be child-centered, working towards goals meaningful to the family unit that are a “just right challenge”, neither too easy nor too hard.
While I have a lot I’ll be writing about based on my experiences working with hundreds of unique kids, I also want this to be a resource for YOU! If you have specific questions or topics you’d like me to talk about, don’t hesitate to get in touch using one of the options on the contact me page.
